The image and video below constitute the culmination of my Senior Thesis work at Elon University.

The image and video represent man-kind's eternal fixation with the beauty found in symmetry. We see it in nearly every great architectural feat in human history and we even consider those people with symmetrical features to be more beautiful than their asymmetrical counterparts. For over 2000 years even scientists and mathematicians have explored the concept through the Golden Ratio. Through these pieces I sought to explore the power that symmetry has held over our species for thousands of years and our subconscious obsession and even worship of the beauty that lies in symmetry.

Image composed in Adobe Photoshop using imagery from popular fashion publications and photographs of a number of European Gothic cathedrals taken during a study abroad program.
Video composed in Adobe After Effects using the above image.

As I continued to work on my Senior Thesis over the course of the 2012 school year, the direction in which I wanted my work to head became more clear. During my final semester my initial studies of reflection and beauty evolved into an in-depth exploration of the power of symmetry, sacred geometry, and mankind's ever-present fascination and obsession with the beauty in symmetry. The following image is a step closer to my final representation of the art, history, and ideas studied throughout my thesis work.

A five part mini-study of reflection, fashion, and beauty done as part of the preliminary work for my Senior Thesis piece. I sought to redirect the viewer's attention from the typical subject of fashion photography (the model) to the patterns and symmetry created by mirroring the images both horizontally and vertically.

All images (quickly) composed in Adobe Photoshop.
A quick study of reflection, pop culture, fashion, and a little art history featuring rapper A$AP Rocky.

Through the following images I sought to achieve a surreal exploration of the wonder and amazement of childhood that Bill Watterson so marvelously captured through his characters Calvin & Hobbes. Altering the original images brought about memories and a nostalgia of my own days as a child when I would color in the black and white strips in the many Calvin & Hobbes books that I still own and read to this day.

This is a small project I created in the very early stages of my Senior Thesis work at Elon. This was created in December of 2012 and it is certainly "Doomsday" inspired....

The graphics were created entirely in Adobe Illustrator and the animation was done using After Effects.

This video is the result of my first venture into Adobe After Effects. This was created in memoriam of a lost acquaintance...

Here is a mock-up I created for an advertisement publication based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I designed the entire layout along with the "Franklin St. Post" image for the cover. The mock-up is 11 pages of generic advertisements meant to display sizing for potential ad space within the publication along with sections for designated weekly "columns."
